Archeological Interest (May 2017)

ARCHAEOLOGICAL INTEREST for the wider area of ​​the Kallieis Municipality (Mavrolithari-Kastriotissa-Stromi).

The Scientific Team of the 1st Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities, headed by the Ephorate Chief and Director of the Delphi Archaeological Museum, Mrs. Athanasia Psaltis, recently visited Kastriotissa.

Purpose of the visit was:

1. The promotion of the ancient Castle of Kastriotissa.

2. The Restoration of the remaining part of the Aitolian fortification (Kastriotissa Castle).
3. The inclusion of the wider area of Kallieis (Stromi-Mavrolithari-Kastriotissa) to a "Protected Zone of Archaeological Interest and Research".
